Owl Mural

My daughter wanted an owl mural on her wall when we moved into our new house. Several owl mural images are on the internet. Eventually, I drew and painted my own vision of what she wanted.

Therefore, during the quarantine of 2020, I painted an owl mural for my daughter. She defined how many she wanted. So there are several little colorful owls perched on branches between the windows in her room.

Being an Artist

Of course, both my children were home with me during this time. I could not just go and paint in peace. First my daughter wanted to help. If one is doing it, then the other must help too. They painted well within the lines. Yet, it is not easy to let them contribute to my work, because I have to fix it. If I fix it, then they notice and are disappointed. And so that is where it led. I could have left it, but it would have bothered the artist in me. This was my opportunity to be an artist instead of a mom or teacher.

Children painting on the wall…

Now if my children purposely drew or painted on the wall, then I would have been upset. But here are my children who are following directions very well. However, my daughter did not like that her brother was painting on her wall-making her picture. Of course, the way to resolve this was to let her paint on his wall. For here-all is good in the world.

Painting on Walls

When I was child, I had drawn on the walls. My mom shares how I drew these ghost-like people. Amazingly, I faintly remember what one may have looked like. It was drawn with a purple crayon on this wild maroon colored wall. Now I have painted on several walls and doors. It is super fun. How about you? Did you draw on the wall or has your child(ren)?
