Stockings Hung with Care
First we have the stocking activity. Long ago in time when first graders we sincerely innocent, I remember hole punched paper stockings. They were whip stitched together. Those we super fun. However, today with the 2 easy Christmas themed art lessons, I am limiting the activity. Therefore the best way limit supplies is to use pencil paper and crayons.
Students simply trace their stocking or a tracer. Then they use pattern and line to show stitching and decoration. Making these patch worked stocking become much more colorful then the paper whipped stitched stockings of my first grade year of school. After adding color the students enjoy drawing things inside popping out or even things that are trying to get out of the stocking.

Reindeer Portraits
The second easy Christmas art lesson uses the theme of the reindeer. With step-by-step handouts, students will have success drawing a family of reindeer with personalities. Or they may just want to draw their friends in reindeer form. The lesson is adaptable for any time amount that a teacher needs to fill. You the teacher decide on how many reindeer the students draw. They may draw four as originally depicted. Or they may draw two to fill a folded sheet of paper. And furthermore, it is optional to have them draw just one if you are shorter in time. This activity is great for early finishers too.
